A lot of people around the world earnestly believe that there exists a Palestinian
people, whom had a land that lush and green and full of Palestinian culture.
The history however is somewhat different. Let's look at some maps that
show us whats for real, and what's not for real. |

This map, shows the central part of the Middle East as it was in 1920. The big green chunk, had just recently (in 1917) been conquered by the British Empire. And thru Lord Balfour, the Jews were promised "A homeland in Palestine ". But the British government balked, and changed its promises, because they were hungy for power, and wanted the power over the oil resources of the Middle East. | |
So the British gave the area today known as Iraq away to an Arab. Later, they cut away 77 per cent of the original British Mandate of Palestine in 1920 and it became the Hashemite Kingdom of Transjordan as shown in the following map. Today, this terroritory it is known as Jordan. |
The rest of the British mandate was planned for Jewish habitation, with a small clause added. It was going to be split into to two states, one large for the Arabs, and one for the Jews. But Great Britain once again balked, and met heavy opposition from Jews all over the world. They wanted Britain to keep their promise. But time went on... and on... |
Just a year later, the next British strike against the People of God, came. They gave away more. They took all of the Golan Heights, and gave it to France (!) whom added it to their mandate. Later it came under Syria, until Israel rescued it from their enemy during the 6-day war in June 1967. |
Years went by, and the Jewish people did not get their homeland. A lot of pressure were put on the british government, with no result. They hardened their hearts. Then came the second world war. Six million two hundred thousand Jews died. 37 million people died, alltogether. After the war Britain had to turn around, and gave the mandate to the United Nations, and asked them to find a solution. They didn't however reckon they would do what they did, and hoped to get the land back. But G-d had had enough, and crushed the rest of the once great empire - Great Britain ceased to exist and became merely Britain within 40 years of the start of their commission with "Palestine". Just as G-d judged nations after 40 years before, He did it again. |

On November 29th, 1947, the United Nations voted for the partition of (the rest of) Palestine. They divided it as is shown on this map.
The yellow areas were supposed to be given to the Jews, the green to the Arabs, and the red part was supposed to be " international". Jerusalem was in the red zone. The Jews didn't like it, but accepted it. All this happened very fast, as it spoken of in Isaiah 66:8-9. |
|
The day after the establishing of Israel, on the 5th Iyar in the year 5708 AM, or May 14th, 1948, five Arab armies attacked. The Israeli army had 18.000 soldiers, with a total of 13.000 guns. and won over a tremendous Arab force. A mötley band of men, with not even a gun each, conquered a well trained Arab war machine, led by several British officers. |
The result was an armistice. The map besides shows you how the boundaries of Israel where after the armistice. The following map shows what happened next. |
But in 1950 Jordan and Egypt annexed parts of the land that Israel hadn't gotten their hands on. Egypt took the Gaza-strip, and Jordan annexed Judea and Samaria and called it "the West Bank". The world forgot the fact that Bethlehem, where Jesus was born - was located in Judea (which means the land of the Jews) and not in the West Bank. |
But not for long. In 1967, in the swift and deadly war, known to the world as the six-day-war, the Jews took their land back. And today it belongs to Israel. Even though the News media still is talking about the "West Bank", in terms like "occupied" - and the world demands that Israel is supposed to give their heartland back to a people who don't exist, and whom never lived there before the Jews started to return in the latter part of the last century. |
