Restoring the Two Houses of Israel

Acknowledgments and Forward

Acknowledgments

I would like to give praise and thanksgiving to the L-rd G-d of Israel for blessing me with faithful and loving parents, Doyle and Lillian Chumney, who have given me much support, encouragement, care, and love over the years.  Dad and Mom, you are the most special parents in the entire world and I LOVE YOU!!!

This book is written exclusively for the glory of the G-d of Israel and his Kingdom (Malkut Shamayim).  May all blessing, glory, praise, and honor be given to the King of kings and the L-rd of lords.  (Revelation 5:11-14, 7:9-12, 19:16)

The Set Time To Favor Zion

NOW is the set time to favor Zion.  In Psalm (Tehillim) 102:13, 16-18, it is written:

“Thou shalt arise, and have MERCY UPON ZION: for the time to favor her, yea, the set time, is come…when the Lord shall BUILD UP ZION, he shall appear in his glory.  He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.  This shall be written for the generation to come: and the people which shall be created shall praise the Lord.”

In Isaiah (Yeshayahu) 62:1, 7 it is written:

“For ZION'S SAKE will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. … And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”

Blow a Trumpet in Zion

In Joel (Yoel) 62:1 it is written:

BLOW YE THE TRUMPET IN ZION, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the Lord cometh, for it is night at hand.”

In Jeremiah (Yermiyahu) 31:6-7, 10 it is written:

“For there shall be a day, that the watchman upon the mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and LET US GO UP TO ZION unto the Lord our God. For thus saith the Lord, Sing with gladness for Jacob, and shout among the chief of the nations: publish ye, praise ye, and say, O Lord, save thy people, the remnant of Israel … Hear the word of the Lord, O ye nations, and declare it in the isles afar off, and say, He that scattered Israel will gather him, and keep him, as a shepherd doth his flock.”

May the G-d of Israel arise and have mercy upon Zion speedily in our days.  Amen!

Foreword

For over 2,000 years, Orthodox Jews have prayed for the Ingathering of the Exiles (Qibbutz Galuyot) from the four corners of the earth 9Deuteronomy [Devarim] 30:1-5).  Ever since the destruction of Jerusalem (Yerushalayim) and the Temple (Brit HaMikdash) by the Romans in 70 CE (Common Era), Orthodox Jews have prayed three times a day for this Ingathering. 1 For Orthodox Jews, the Ingathering of the Exiles in synonymous with the NATIONAL Redemption.

The requests for Redemption and for the coming of the Messiah (Mashiach) are part of the Amidah prayer (known also as “The Eighteen Benedictions”).  This prayer along with the Shema (“Hear, O Israel”) is recited three times a day by Orthodox Jews and is regarded as the most important daily prayer.  The Amidah prayer was edited by Rabban Gamaliel II soon after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple by the Romans in 70 C.E.  The thenth benediction of the Amidah prayer is a prayer for the Ingathering of the Exiles (Qibbutz Galuyot). 2  The full text of this tenth benediction reads as follows:

“Blow the Great Shofar for our freedom, and lift up a banner to gather our exiles, and gather us from the four corners of the earth.  Blessed art Thou, O Lord, who gathers the banished of they people, Israel.”

This is a prayer for ALL 12 TRIBES to be gathered back to the land of Israel.  Closely associated with this Ingathering of the Exiles (Qibbutz Galuyot) is the ingathering of the Ten Lost Tribes who were exiles by the Assyrians in 721 BCE and believed to dwell beyond the mythical river Sambatyon. 3

It is widely believed among Orthodox Jews that Elijah will precede the coming of the messiah (Mashiach) and will announce the redemption to the seed of Jacob (all 12 tribes).  In an Orthodox Jewish rabbinic commentary to Leviticus (Vayikra) 26:42 (Mid. Haser w’Yater, pp. 16, 42, and Rashi ad Leviticus 26:42) it is taught:

“Everywhere in the Bible the name of Jacob is spelled with the [Hebrew] letter vav, except for five places; and everywhere the name of Elijah is spelled with a vav, except for five places.  Why?  To teach you that Elijah will come and redeem the seed of Jacob.  Jacob took the vav from the name of Elijah as a pledge that ELIJAH WOULD COME AND ANNOUNCE THE REDEMPTION of the world to his children.” 4

In Luke 1, Zacharias was a priest of the course of Abijah (1 Chronicles 24:10) who was praying the Amidah prayer in the Temple (Beit haMikdash).  As he was praying, the angel Gabriel spoke to him and told him that his prayer had been heard and that he would have a son named John (Yochanan) who would be of the SPIRIT and power OF ELIJAH.  In Luke 1:5-9, 11, 13, 15-17, 67-68, 72-73 it is written:

“There was in the days of Herod, the king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia [Abijah]: and his wife was of the daughter of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth [Elisheva].  And they were both righteous [tzaddik] before God, walking in all the commandments [mitzvoth] and ordinances of the Lord blamlEss [tamim]. And they had no child, because that Elisabeth [Elisheva] was barren, and they both were now well stricken in years.  And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course, According to the custom of the priest’s office, his lot was to burn incense when he went into the temple of the Lord … And there appeared unto him an angel [Gabriel] of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of incense … the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for they prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth [Elisheva] shall bear thee a son: and thou shalt call his name John [Yochanan] he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost [Ruach HaKodesh] even from his mother’s womb.  And many of the children of Israel [the seed of Jacob – Mid. Haser w’Yater, pp.16, 42, and Rashi ad Leviticus 26:42] shall he turn [teshuvah] to the Lord their God.  And he shall go before him in the SPIRIT and power OF ELIJAH, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children [Malachi 4:5-6] and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord … And his father Zacharias was filled with the Holy Ghost [Ruach HaKodesh] and prophesied, saying.  Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he has visited and redeemed his people … to perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; The oath which he swore to our father Abraham…”

Orthodox Jews believe that there is a suffering Messiah and a Kingly Messiah.  The suffering Messiah (Mashiach) is known as style Messiah ben Yosef (Joseph).  The Kingly Messiah (Mashiach) is known as MeMessiah ben David.

Non-Jews who believe that Yeshua/Jesus is the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) also believe in a suffering Messiah and a Kingly Messiah.  However, they believe that both of these roles will be fulfilled by the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) Yeshua/Jesus.  In His first coming, He came to fulfill the role of the suffering Messiah (Messiah ben Yosef/Joseph).  In His second coming, He will come to fulfill the role of the Kingly Messiah (Messiah ben David).).

In the first coming of the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) Yeshua/Jesus, Yochanan the Immerser (John the Baptist) came in the SPIRIT OF ELIJAH (Luke 1:17).  Orthodox Jews believe that Elijah will announce the redemption of the seed of Jacob to his children (Mid. Haser w’Yater, pp. 16, 42, and Rashi ad Leviticus 26:42).  Is it possible that prior to the second coming of the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) Yeshua/Jesus that the G-d of Israel will use the SPIRIT OF ELIJAH through an outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Ruach Hakodesh) to announce the redemption of the seed of Jacob (ALL 12 TRIBES) to the seed of Jacob (house of Israel/Christianity and the house of Judah/Judaism) and to the world?

In the first part of this book, we will examine some of the issues which have historically divided the two houses of Israel (house of Israel/Christianity and the house of Judah/Judaism).  Among the issues to be discussed are:

Who is the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) and is the Jewish Messiah (Mashiach) the G-d of Israel manifested in the flesh?  What is the obligation of the non-Jew in keeping the Torah and the commandments (mitzvoth) of the G-d of Israel?  What is the purpose and meaning of the Sabbath (Shabbat)?)?

In the last part of the book, we will learn how the Israel/Arab peace process is associated with the redemption, restoration and reunification of both houses of Israel (Ezekiel [Yechezekel] 37:15-28.  As a background for understand the Israel/Arab land conflict, we will study the modern history of the nation of Israel.  We will learn that the Israel/Arab peace process is based upon UN resolutions 242 and 338.  We will understand how the G-d of Israel will judge all the nations in the earth based upon how they have treated the Jewish people (house of Judah) and the nation of Israel.

This book is written to communicate the soon redemption, restoration and reunification of both houses of Israel (house of Israel/Christianity and the house of Judah/Judaism) in a style that can be easily understood by both houses.  Therefore, traditional Jewish terms are used and the name of the G-d of Israel is written with a hyphen (G-d, L-rd) so that this book is acceptable reading to the house of Judah (Jews).

There are twelve chapters in this book – one chapter in remembrance for each of the twelve tribes of Israelst1:place.

May the G-d of Israel bring redemption, restoration and reunification to both houses of Israel speedily in our days.  Amen!

What the Rabbis Teach about the Ten Lost Tribes Vol 1

Rabbis Teach about the Ten Tribes

The Northern Kingdom (Ephraim) and the Southern Kingdom (Judah) differed both politically and religiously. They have never been united since the split between them following the days of Solomon. The Northern Kingdom was taken captive by the Assyrians. Upon their captivity, the Ten Tribes have been assimilated and intermingled into the nations of the world. The intermarriage of the Assyrians and the descendents of the Northern Kingdom who lived in the land of Israel were known as Samaritans. The Jews and the Samaritans never got along with each other. Joseph being sold by his brothers foreshadows the dividing of the nation of Israel into Northern Kingdom and Southern Kingdom. Joseph's unification with His brothers foreshadows the unification of Ephraim and Judah in the end of days. Ezekiel lying on his side foreshadows the sin and punishment of the Northern Kingdom. The suffering of a righteous individual can atone for the sins of the nation of Israel. The suffering of Ezekiel foreshadows the suffering of the Messiah for His people. The Ten Tribes did not unite with Judah at the end of the Babylonian captivity during the days of Ezra and Nehemiah. Orthodox Jews pray three times a day for the ingathering of the exiles of Israel. The Ten Tribes will return to the land of Israel and be united with Judah at the dawn of the Messianic Era. It is the Messiah who will gather the exiles of Israel.
